What We Believe

At Maranatha Bible Church, we believe that rich biblical doctrine and theological depth is vital for the church’s godliness and maturation in Christ. At the same time, we also believe in maintaining unity in the essentials and charity in the non-essentials of the faith.

For this reason, we have subdivided our Statement of Faith into two parts: “What We Believe” and “What We Teach.” These two documents comprise our abridged and unabridged doctrinal statements, respectively:

  • The Essentials of the Faith ("What We Believe")

This document functions as our abridged statement of faith, which consists of (1) The Apostles’ Creed, (2) The Nicene Creed, and (3) The Five Solas of the Protestant Reformation.

We believe that these are essential, non-negotiable beliefs for every true Christian, as they concisely but sufficiently summarize the basic substance of the gospel as revealed in the Bible.

All who desire to become members of MBC must affirm this statement in its entirety, both in conscience and in conduct.

  • The Doctrinal Statement of MBC ("What We Teach")

This document is our full unabridged statement of faith, which expands on the specific biblical convictions of this church in greater theological detail. The convictions articulated herein are what the Elders of MBC are committed to teach from the Bible.

One may become a member of MBC while not agreeing to every point of this statement, so long as he or she is willing to be under its regular teaching and is willing to submit to the ministry practice that arises out of these particular convictions.

For more information, please see the “Introduction” page of this document as linked below.

 Other Foundational Documents

  • Constitution & Bylaws

The Constitution & Bylaws of MBC is our governing document that explains how we function as a church according to the explicit commands and implicit principles of Scripture.

All who join the membership of MBC agree to affirm and abide by this document, including the leaders of this church.

  • Membership Covenant

The Membership Covenant is a written expression of what it means to be a member of MBC, namely, our commitment to one another as a local church.

Members are required to sign this covenant before joining the membership and are expected to joyfully carry out its spirit and substance for as long as God has them at this local church.
